Blending Images Photoshop Notes
1. Open up street Image and use the crop tool and content-aware to resize, if needed.
2. Open the second image of girl swimming into that same document. (Convert this to a Smart Object to avoid resolution issues from resizing.)
3. Move girl to match up horizon in street photo at lower portion of image.
4. Make a selection of the girl and click on the mask button to create a mask.
5. Use the brush tool and paint with white on the mask to reveal more of the water around her.
6. COMMAND + J to make a copy of this layer
7. Select the bottom layer and RENAME it HARD LIGHT
8. Change the Blending mode of this layer to HARD LIGHT
9. Make sure you're on the mask and using the brush tool, paint more of the water back in.
10. Change the opacity of this layer to 65%
11. Select the HARD LIGHT layer and the copy of this layer by holding down shift to select both. Then COMMAND +G to group these layers. (This is done so any adjustments will affect both)
12. Open a New HUE SATURATION LAYER and click the clip it to Mask button to affect only the Group.
13. Desaturate the Blues and Cyans
14. Convert Background layer to Smart Object for Filter
15. Add Filter, Then Gaussian Blur (set between 5-6)
16. Select the mask on this background and using the brush tool, selectively remove the blur from the foreground to create the illusion of depth of field.
17. Right Click on the Background Layer and select: Blending Options
18. Click on the GRADIENT Overlay. (Soft Light, LEFT-RIGHT, 180 degree angle, Opacity 40%)
19. Select the Hue Saturation Layer. Then CREATE NEW BLANK LAYER
20. Fill this layer with BLACK
21. With this layer selected, Go to Filter-Render--SElect Lens FLARE
22. Add Gausian Blur to the Lens flare layer
23. Move Flare to desired location on image
24. Transform flare to make bigger if necessary
25. Clip a Hue Saturation Layer to the Lens Flare layer to warm it up and add Yellows
26. Add a SELECTIVE COLOR adjustment layer at the top of the layers to warm up the entire image. Under NEUTRALS, add RED and YELLOW, On BLACK, make it negative to create a hazy look.
