Assignments Due September 3rd: A) Photography in the News written response B) Textbook reading: ART PHOTOGRAPHY NOW chapters, INTRODUCTION and PORTRAIT C) Read: https://photography.tutsplus.com/articles/the-reception-of-color-photography-a-brief-history--cms-28333 Exploring Light part 1: Natural Light DUE: SEPTEMBER 3 bring digital files to class for digital critique Best 6 photographs as digital files (we aren’t printing this assignment) Bring one short (very) video clip component. OVERVIEW: Natural Light: edited to best 6 Take photographs outside at dawn, mid morning, noon, mid afternoon, sunset and the blue hour (after sunset). Bring in your 6 best images (one for each of the times of day) A tripod will be needed for the early and late shots due to the longer exposure time. Photography in the News Points: 10 per written response Expectations: Each weekend, you will comb the news for anything photography related. I suggest making a google news alert. I will also share a few curated resources online that are good places to start. Things to look for : Articles talking about the history of photography, photography-related court cases. (paparazzi lawsuits, etc.), contemporary issues with photography (trends, photography exhibits), new camera technologies. Etc, etc, etc. What to turn in each Tuesday: A short, TYPED, written response that A) summarizes the news story and B) your response to what you read. This can be a few short paragraphs. (Not sentences) INCLUDE either a printout, or link to your article, or news coverage. (Youtube link, etc.) Then comes the fun part....each Tuesday we will break into groups at the beginning of class to discuss what you found. I will then select one or two students to present their articles so that we can discus...
