Artificial Light mini Assignment: Due September 5th

DUE: September 5th

Best 6 photographs as digital files  and video clip (we aren’t printing this assignment). 

OVERVIEW:

Artificial Light: edited to best 6 and one video clip 

Take photographs in a variety of artificially lit scenarios. Take some images using artificial exterior lighting in the evening. Take some indoors using the existing artificial light. Take some using lights that you add (doesn’t have to be fancy lighting, anything that is a light source will work). Consider the mood and affect of light color on the subject. Use a tripod for longer exposures. If mixing lighting, be considerate to the colors different lights create and use them creatively in your composition. 

Experiment! There is no theme on this project so try a wide variety of scenarios. 

Note: Using a tripod is a requirement. It will help you from needing to crank up your ISO too high (and causing image noise).

Technical objectives: 

Making the photographs: exposure controls, tripod use, white balance, basic editing workflow. 

Creative considerations:

How does time of day affect the color of light? How does this affect the overall mood and emotion of the image? How do you problem solve to make interesting images in a variety of lighting conditions?
